Surely suicide has been done on Dr Who before. I dont think it is a big deal or taboo. In loads of blockbuster movies a hero kills themselves to save the world etc- it is seen as noble not taboo.

Is it maybe the aspirin that's made your stomach bad? It might be an idea to use use painkillers that are not aspirin based - paracetamol or ibuprofen are better. Aspirin if taken for some time can damage the stomach and cause intestinal bleeding.
