Yeah, if we just had teleport technology, ey? We could have our cake and eat it too.
Or a tardis. ![]()
Yeah, but knowing my luck, I'd probably land in New Jersey or Milton Keynes.
Oh gods! Anywhere but Milton Keynes. Or Slough!

The lake with the trees looks lovely. Where is that?
Tom.
That's Lake George, where I take the trolley-bus to, when I just want to hang out, watching the tourists and boats, and stuff.
I've just been reading up on Lake George, and I see there is a village called Ticonderoga there. I know that name from the Tom Waits song "Shore Leave":
"Well with buck shot eyes and a purple heart
I rolled down the national stroll
and with a big fat paycheck
strapped to my hip sack
and a shore leave wristwatch underneath
my sleeve
in a Hong Kong drizzle on Cuban heels
I rowed down the gutter to the Blood Bank
and I'd left all my papers on the Ticonderoga
and was in a bad need of a shave"
etc.
Brilliant song.
Tom.
Ticonderoga is about 30 miles north of Lake George vilalge, on the opposide end of the lake. It's a nice, quaint town--also a mill town, as International Paper has a big mill there--they even have a Wal-Marts. Fort Ticonderoga is a National Landmark site, the restored Queen Anne's and Revolutionary War era fort on Lake Champlain, is a big draw for visitors.
Interesting, thanks.
Are you a Tom Waits fan?
Tom.
Sorry, not familiar with him, unless they've played him on local radio, and I didn't know who was singing.
Just close your eyes n you'll be there
xxxx
I was going to hop the bus and take a ride there tonight, but too late now, and I'm far to hot and tired to bother...maybe later on in the week. I just spent 30 dollars on laundry and the cab fare, so ice creams and crazy golf are not in the plan for a while, methinks.
