STILL waiting for my cab! :##

That poor dog was left tied up by the druggie/gangsta' dad again today...without water. I gave it some. the guy comes up to me, and asks if I want a dog...

Seems I'm getting a different story about the dog, now besides being told they'd adopted the dog from a shelter, the new story is that they were pet-sitting the dog for someone on holiday, when the owner rang them up and told them he/she couldn't keep the dog any longer.

I asked the guy why he didn't just call the dog warden to come and take the dog, and he gives me a blank look, "they can do that?" DOH. I told him that as long as he tells the dog warden the dog's been abandoned by its owner, the dog warden is obligated to take the animal away. I'd take the dog, but for one, no more dogs are allowed, and two, I'm not well enough to care for a dog--who do need a lot more care and attention than cats, and three, I can't afford a sick old dog, much as I like the animal...poor wee thing...he needs lots of love and attention and vet care, I have all I can do to buy the wormer and flea stuff and whatnot for my cats.

It's about to storm--or at least there's some thunder around, and I hope they have the brains to bring the dog in out of the weather.

There's some paving going on, in the car park of a nearby large apartment complex. I saw this skinny guy driving a little steam roller...he got off--while it was still moving, and stood in front of it with hands braced against it--like he could actually stop a half-ton piece of construction equipment with his bare hands. I watched as he walked backward while it was moving forward, observing the roller go 'round. Okaaay then, guess this guy never watched those Bugs Bunny cartoons, where the guy gets flattened. Another chap who's a few fries short of a Happy Meal.

Horn honking--cab's here to take me to the kidney doctor.
