Did David Tennant LIE????

Oh, I just read that the Doctor's going to regenerate. Now, I don't object to actor's leaving the show, they have their life.

But, David Tennant has PUBLICALLY said that he's going to be filming the four Dr Who specials next year---so did he lie?

And if he did--that was a really low-brow thing, and I would be so disgusted with this type of ploy, that no matter how much I love the show (and I do love it, with all my heart) I would STOP watching the new series.

Doctor Who has been one of the few things that's kept me going, these past two years. As life has continually dragged me through hell, the one bright spot (aside from my friends--I'm not so shallow as to put them second to a television programme), the one shining light for me, has been Dr Who.

Time after time, it's take me away from things that came near to driving me into, quite frankly, ending it all.

The last thing I need is to shattered by a bald-faced lie. That would be a scummy thing to do to the fans. Staging a secret regeneration, merely for shock value.

I think Tennant is the best actor to have bring the character of the Doctor to life, but certainly would NEVER begrudge him leaving...he has a life of his own and a mind of his own, and by gosh, that's certainly his right to make that decision.

I hope this is only a teaser, to get keep us all on pins and needles until Christmas of 2008. I hope it is. I don't think I can take any more disappointments or shocks...even from a TV show.

Hmm, I haven't really been watching it but I reckon they're using the regeneration thing to get people talking about it and it'll all veer around and it won't happen so Tennant will be back...

...but that's just my guess

  Yes, I bet he won't actually regenerate if that's what he said - or it will be something like he will regenerate, but the specials next year will be a flashback thing...

    Prywden thinks that he's going to split into 2 doctors for a while - sound like a typical RTD plotline!

I'd go with the flashback theory myself. Firstly these specials are just that, they don't have to form part of any chronological order, and secondly I think most fans would appreciate it if Tennant can make a more graceful farewell from the role in at least one decent 'flashback' episode. His sudden end in today's episode -which let's face it was crappy and chaotic- would be a rather unjust end to his tenure of the TARDIS.

Another reason to favour the flashback theory is that these specials will be RTD's last Who episodes, and he will want to tie up a few loose ends as far as some plots and characters go. The (unnecessary IMO) appearance (and exit) of Harriet Jones is an example of this, as perhaps is the appearance of Rose Tyler herself.

I just watched this on the internet...how sad!

I wanted to say that I like your Doctor Who stories on the wordpress site. I read Rain of Terror, and thought it wonderful! You have the banter between Donna and the Doctor down pat. it was almost like reading a story taken from one of RTD's scripts!

I noticed in your story that you have the Dalek trying to take over the planet and remake it into the new Dalek homeworld,and that is kind of what happened in Stolen Earth, except on a larger scale. Did you get your idea for this from the this episode? Or did you think it up on your own?

I read stories on both your wordpress Doctor Who blogs, and was going to comment, but it won't let me.

I read a lot of your stories over the past couple of days. There are so many! You are really a good writer, you should try and get a commission from BBC books.

Other stories of yours that I liked were, Grave Danger, that was very atmospheric in the rainy cemetery, loved that setting. LOVED when the Doctor swung from the chandelier and crashed through the stained glass window. The Errol Flynn reference gave me a chuckle, and the reaction of the caretaker was funny. Got the Wizard of Oz reference, too. "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

I managed to get through Mad Country. I'm not being critical, but it did start out a bit slow, but by the middle got terribly exciting! The Doctor trying to keep the airplane from crashing, running from zombies and headless highlanders, escaping on a lawn tractor--where do you get these great ideas from? That was a hoot! Running through tunnels and up and down staircases and elevator shafts (they call them lifts, don't they?). The end was really a surprise, as well, the way he defeated the glowing ball things.

I read part of Pyramid Project. Can't wait to get around to reading the rest.

The Menagerie was good, very interesting concept, and the Dream Weavers was both scary and funny. And I LOVED how you combined my favorite brit-com, Keeping Up Appearances with Doctor Who. That was wonderful! You captured Mrs. Bucket perfectly! And I could just see the 9th Doctor's reaction to her. Wonderful!

Your latest story, Dark Holiday, sounds very exciting. I can't wait to see what that old couple in the camper is about, and who killed that young boy, and who is Mrs. Willams and her husband?

Are you from New York also? I seem to remember you mentioning the Adirondacks. I'm from Liverpool, NY but going to school in Buffalo for summer classes.

Hope you're not disappointed by what happens next on Doctor Who. Maybe he didn't really die. Maybe somehow they'll find a way for him to come back to life?

  Wow. No one's EVER made this many comments about my writing before. I'm gobsmacked, Anna. Thank you so much. I so rarely get any feedback on my stories, that I simply assume that they aren't very good....well, I still don't think they are, but thank you, really, from the bottom of my heart.
  
  Rain of Terror was finished in mid-May. I haven't seen Stolen Earth. I didn't know what the finale was about, other than there were daleks involved and that they'd shoot the Doctor. No, I just literally made Rain of Terror up as I went along--I never studied fiction writing, really, so I don't know much about plotting and stuff. I generally tend just to get a general idea of what I want a story to be about, and write it off the cuff, so to speak, as I go.
  
  Usually, I will go back later and change little things for clarity or flow, but generally I just dash it right off the top of my head as I'm sitting there writing it. I'm glad you think it works--tho' I don't think I could ever hold a candle to any real Who writers. I'm just a causal writer, and not a pro.
  
  Commission from BBC books? Ha-ha, very funny. I wish. That would be a dream come true of course, but I'm not anywhere in the same league as those writers. They're so wonderful! I would never presume to compare myself to them.
  
  Liverpool! My friend from college (when I was 19) was from there. Her brother played in the Liverpool high school's band. My first college that I went to about 30 min. east of Syracuse, so I've spent time in your neck O' the woods, sure.
  
  I'm afraid things look a bit dark though, as far as my association with Doctor Who.
  
  If things don't work out right, and he does regenerate without warning. I am finished as a Doctor Who fan. I won't having anything more to do with the New Series. I may even delete my Fan fiction blogs on Wordpress, that's how strongly I feel about the whole thing.

Everyone calm down - he's not leaving. I'm not going to spoil the final ep, but he is NOT leaving. Not this year at any rate.

  Well, thanks. I don't mind if he leaves or not (though I am always chuffed when I watch him..he is just so magical as the Doc)--he's a regular person and people in his profession come and go, as well I know--I was just upset because I was told he'd regenerated, which caused me to think some stunt had been pulled..as seen in the clip on my blog.

David would never lie! Hes a very nice person and he really cares about his fans. I think he would be very upset to read this. You shouldnt call David a liar, thats just wrong

  I have indeed heard that he is a nice man--but he's a MAN, not a saint. I'm sure at some point in his lifetime, the man has lied.
  
  As for the liar bit, that remains to be seen. I just know that he said he'd be doing the programme in 2009, and then someone sends me the regeneration clip on YouTube...and that's was my first initial reaction, that he and Davies baldly lied about this.
  
  Maybe not. It WAS just my first gut reaction, after all. If I was wrong, I am deeply sorry.
  
  But, sweetheart, I very much doubt the man would gave a darn what I say or think or do. He's his own man, and he lives in a world totally apart from my own--3000 miles apart, acutally. He resides in a world nothing like mine...why would he care?
