As a series of storms blows through all afternoon--lots of close lighting strikes, I managed to make it through one more day. And had a couple of bits of good news, as well. My bosses agreed to put me on two 9 plus hour shifts, early in the week, and all day Saturday, plus just under four hours on Sunday and two nights, mid-week, with Friday off. So, I will be getting my maximum hours, and no cut--and subsequently, no loss of income. Whew!!! I was sweating over that! I was actually able to buy groceries, afterall--and some actual dinners, thanks to some great sales.
I was able to get, for under 5 dollars each, four dinners this week: BBQ chicken legs, which I can have with a jacketed potato and some tinned corn. A split quarter of chicken, which I can season and bake, with and have mashed potatoes and carrots. And, oh glory, this was a coup, I got an unbelieveably cheap whole brisket of corned beef, which I will boil with some potatoes and carrots, cabbage and seasonings--and, I'm still gobsmacked over the great bargains this week--I got all this and my usual stuff--for about 7 dollars LESS than what I usually spend---I also got some skinless chicken thighs, couscous and cherry pie filling (they were out of brussel sprouts, sadly) for one of my favourtie meals. Don't have any veg to go with it, but, meh, I don't care. I'm just glad I'm not stuck eating peanut butter and boxed macaroni and cheese (got that for lunches, to save money) all week, and nothing else!
I'm frightfully tired still, tho'. People were mean again--tho' not as bad as yesterday--on the phone. Next week will be a blessing, as I need the rest. Wednesday and Thursday I 'll only work nights, with Friday off--can get some sleep and rest, finally...and get caught up on some cleaning chores I've been sorely neglecting, as well.
And...of course, I will be writing and watching Dr Who!
Thanks to everyone for helping me keep my spirits up--gah! I was really down in the dumps, last night. Cheers. N.
